Erratum

In the March 2004 Journal of Gerontology: Biological Sciences article, "How Are Biomarkers Related to Physical and Mental Well-Being?" (Seplaki CL, Goldman N, Weinstein M, Lin YH. 2004;59A(3):201–217), in the second paragraph of the Measures section (p. 203), the authors state that:

"In addition to the routine standardization and calibration tests performed by the laboratory, duplicate samples for a 10% subset of the specimens were submitted to UCL and to Quest Diagnostics in the United States for analysis."

Unfortunately, that statement is not correct. It should read:

"In addition to routine standardization and calibration tests performed by the laboratory, during the early stages of fieldwork, nine individuals outside of the sample contributed triplicate sets of specimens: two sets were submitted to UCL and a third set was sent to Quest Diagnostics in the United States."

The subsequent sentence regarding our estimates of reliability/validity is correct.

The authors regret having made this error.
